“Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros - Home”

tunelove-moonpowered:

You lovely people are in for a treat, this is the beautiful and wonderful sound of Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, with their track “Home”. I noticed this track when watching the trailer for the film “Big Easy Express” a film documenting the band along with Mumford and Sons, and Old Crow Medicine Show’s tour across america, on a one of a kind steam train. This songs lovable feel and love tangled lyrics portray a relationship in the early stages of a bosoming romance. It outlines the importance of having friends and family close by to help out when things get tough and support you in all that you do.

The Band themselves consist of twelve full members and eight people who help out form time to time. This generates a powerful as well as unique sound consisting of folk music with choir like vocals making you feel warm and welcome. Started in California in 2005 the band have moved fast and have quickly gathered a diverse and dedicated fan base all over the US. The UK is now starting to have their boarders breached and with the success of bands like Mumford and Sons and Fleet Foxes they will surely soon been appearing in venues very soon.

The track “Home” is taken from their début album “Up From Below” which is available now.

“Arctic Monkeys - R U Mine”

tunelove-moonpowered:

KAPOWWWWWWWWWWW! ARCTIC MONKEYS ARE BACK!!!!!!! “Are You Mine” is the latest release form the Sheffield foursome and GOOD GOD IT IS GOOD. This hard hitting offering shows a definite progression form the band drawing styles right back to the early days of “Who the Fuck are the Arctic Monkeys”, their début EP.

But more importantly the band have brought humour and childishness back into their style. This is an element that had been lacking in recent work as they opted for a more serious style, when all we wanted was songs about growing up and having a good time. If you like your music punchy, and packed fully of clever lyrics The Arctic Monkeys will be like a shot of pure alcohol to your system, waking you up to the reality that music is back on track.

Back to their best the video for “Are You Mine” also portrays a band just looking to bust out quality, fun songs to jump around to (and talk about how much of a douch-bag La Roux is).

Lets all hope that “Are You Mine” follows up from “Suck and See” and paves the way for another brilliant album. Currently Touring with the pragmatic Black Keys in America they are set to return to the UK over the summer. If your lucky enough to see them im sure it will be a night to remember.

“Lion's Den”

tunelove-moonpowered:

After waiting and waiting and waiting Its finally arrived, yesterday on the 5th of March 2012, Dry The River officially released their début album “Shallow Bed”. The London five piece have gone from strength to strength and being signed onto Sony records last year has only fast-forwarded the laying of their path to stardom.

Being the lucky chap I am I got to see DTR twice in one day on the first of March. Before their incredible official gig at The Hippodrome I was treated to a very very special performance at Banquet Records. Myself and around thirty others were in awe as Dry The River played a complete acoustic set with no amps or microphones. Just about as good as live music gets (You can see videos from both gigs below)

- Bible Belt at Banquet Records, Kingston

 - No Rest at The Hipordrome, Kingston

But not only this I had the pleasure of meeting the band and getting an advanced signed copy of their album four days before official release. It has since that moment not left my car, being played constantly on every drive. As you can tell from the picture below I was chuffed and for a twenty three year old I still think this is a little bit cool.

With stunning soft vocals, harmonies and anthemic sounds this bands bleak and beautiful songs show that hope can be found anywhere. With tracks such as “Chambers and the Valves” showing the importance of friends and just having a good time, contrasted with “Demons” and ” Lions Den” showcasing their darker side the band offers something for everyone.

I cant stress enough how much I love this band, they are everything and more of what every band should be like. Their album is perfect and I cant wait to see them again soon. Find out more on their website here and buy their album from Banquet Records here

The sinpet of a track above is called “Lions Den” Enjoy :D

“Paddling Out”

tunelove-moonpowered:

Have you ever had a song that is so addictive you just cant get it out your head? Well if you haven’t you will very soon. Miike Snow is a Swedish dace pop group formed in 2007. Surprisingly not one person in the band is called Mike or has the surname Snow but this doesn’t matter. Christian Karlsson, Pontus Winnberg, and Andrew Wyatt have just produce the sound for the summer with their track “Paddling Out”.Whether you want cheering up, a good dance or just simply want to listen to some good music this track makes you smile and tap your feet (and in these depressing times we need a bit of happiness).

If you love bands like Delphic, Django Django or early Calvin Harris this track is for you. I was singing the chorus so loud in the car today i think anyone looking on might have thought I was a bit “special” but you just have to with this song. It will make people who haven’t walked stand up and jiggle themselves all over the place lets hope the album out later this year will be also good as this.
